I’m a Migraine Survivor!

I survived chronic migraines! Saying that out loud is mind boggling at times but it’s my truth. I have lived with chronic migraines for such a long time that it had become such a huge part of my life. I still sometimes wait for that migraine to creep up on me and get me when I least expect it…how sad is that.

I suffered with horrible migraines since my early 20’s and every year and after each of my pregnancies they just got worse and worse. I would get them about 15 times a month where I would be vomiting and just begging for some mercy in the pain. I have tried EVERYTHING from medications, botox, change in diet, supplements (including Migrelief), chiropractors, acupuncturists and the list goes on and on. There is nothing that I wouldn’t try.

I have 2 children and I was robbing them of a mother and I wanted my life back. That is when my sister gave me this article to read http://www.chatelaine.com/health/wellness/migraine-therapy/ I immediately set an appointment to see Brendan Cleary at the Ontario Migraine Clinic and here I am today migraine free!

I vowed to spread the word to everyone about how this treatment literally saved my life and I ask others who have seen him to do the same. He sees hundreds of patients a week from all over and we all just can’t believe how our lives have been transformed. I say this to give hope to others and to never give up on yourself. Never dismiss any treatment in saying “oh that won’t help me” you just never know what will work. I know where I have been and it’s heartbreaking to hear all these stories of pain and suffering. I wish everyone all the best and keep you all in my prayers. God bless!

    Hi Margaret,

That is so amazing that you have found relief through treatment with Brendan Cleary. I too saw that article in Chatelaine and have been tempted to try his treatment. However, I have some trepidation about him and his treatment – it seems too good to be true, and it seems like he might be in it for the money. Also, I’ve tried so much I don’t want to spend thousands of dollars and travel to Georgetown just to find out that another thing didn’t work.

Can I ask, how is his treatment different than the acupuncture you received before seeing him? What do you think about his treatment that works? Can I ask, if you don’t mind, how many appointments it took and aprox how much you spent in total to reach the state you are now in?

Again, I’m so happy for you, enjoy life!

    Hi Lt,
I’m more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. I TOTALLY get the “too good to be true” logic. With all the acupuncture that I’ve done they wouldn’t access me the way he did. He checks your pulse and is able to tell exactly what systems in your body are not functioning properly. This took years and years to master. It’s not only about the needles it’s also about the breathing technique that you have to do during every session and 3 times a day when you don’t see him. He puts ALOT of emphasis on this. Doing that will determine how long your treatment will last. I have been seeing him 2 days a week from April 2013 doing 2 sessions a day (you have to wait 2hrs between sessions). I won’t lie that it doesn’t take awhile and is costly. The charge comes to about $92 a session. When I started he said that my system was at about 25% and now I’m at 70%. I still have treatments and you are usually on “maintenance” once you reach 80%. then you would come every 6 weeks for a couple of times. I can’t really explain why or how it works so much it just does. During your session you’re in a room with other people and we all talk and there is not a single person there that hasn’t seen improvement. There is a lady there that had severe migraines and sinus issues for 43 years and had to go on disability. She saw Breandan 10 yrs ago and hasn’t had a migraine since. She now goes there with a family member for other issues and is a true example of how his treatment works. Right now there are people coming from Alberta, Quebec, Nova Scotia and British Columbia. People go to him as a last resort and that’s why treatment can take longer. I thank God everyday that I have found him and that he was able to give my life back. He is very dedicated to his patients and you can tell that he sincerely wants to help. If you have ANY other questions please let me know. I’m glad to help any way I can. Best of luck to you.
