Migraines, attack me without knowing anytime of any day. I know chocolate does not help, but even staying away from it, it comes over me and feels like my left eye is going to pop out of my socket. Ouch, my prescription does not work anymore……can you suggest what helps you!!!

    Silvia,
I have a few questions for you so I can point you in the right direction.

How long have you had Migraines?

How often do you get them?

You mentioned your meds don’t work anymore. That can definitely happen as your symptoms change over time. Do you take a daily preventative to try and stop the Migraines from occurring? Are you taking an abortive when they do hit? There are so many drugs out there that working with your doctor will be best in finding what helps you the best. But be patient, this process can take some trial and error.

What kind of doctor do you see now for your Migraines? All neurologists are trained to help Migraine patients but they may devote more of their time to other neuro disorders like Parkinsons or Alzheimers. Going to a Headache Specialist is your best chance for getting a neurologist who is highly skilled with our disease. The link below will help you find one near you.

You also mentioned that the pain is mainly in your eye. Everyone experiences pain in different areas and sometimes it shifts with each headache. Do you wear glasses or contacts? When was the last time you had your eyes checked? An out-of-whack lens prescription has been known to cause headaches. I’m not saying this is always the problem when you have eye pain, but just something to consider.

I hope you get relief soon and I’d love to help!
