Effexor – MAV prevention

  • By TracyS

Recently having tried Verapamil (lowered BP too much) I am now trying Effexor which has been highly recommended as a first line treatment for Migraine with Vertigo. Im experiencing a few start up effects but willing to perserve if it makes a difference, anyone have any success stories with Effexor and MAV? Would love to hear some for encouragement. Thanks

    Hi TracyS,

Thanks for your question and welcome!

I’ve not tried Effexor, but know people who have good results with it. Hopefully others will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

I did want to mention that it can take up to 90 days to see a reduction in our migraine frequency and severity when we start new medications. Also during this time potential side effects may lessen as our body adjusts to the new medication. I’m not sure doctors spend enough time discussing this with us.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,
