CGRPs (calcitonin-gene-related peptide)

The differences between CGRPs

  • By Misciel

Hi! There are now 3 CGRPs approved… I can’t figure out what the difference is between them… There doesn’t seem to be any easy way to find out if one might be better for me to take than another. Does anybody know what differentiates them? Thanks!

The first that was approved, Aimovig (erenumab), targets the CGRP receptor, and the others target the CGRP itself, as I understand it. In other words, Aimovig disables the catcher, and the others stop it closer to the pitchers mound.

This is a very good question, I was asking myself as well. This stuff is so new that there is no good way to find out until we subject ourselves as guinea pigs.
