Ajovy

I had been taking Aimovig for about 2 years and have had some success, however my Specialist said that I should have more migraine-free days so next month I will try Ajovy. Anyone taking Ajovy and how is it working for you?

  1. Hi , I have suffered with migraines for years and they got significantly worse about 2 years ago. I was paralyzed with how severe the pain got. Aimovig did absolutely nothing for me. Emgality helped very little and then I was put on a new and extremely expensive medication called Vyepti that was given to me once every 3 months by infusion, and that helped me even less than the Emgality did. I tried all of these medications after a laundry list of of other medications…probably upwards of 10-15 and none of them did anything for me. So….when my doctor suggested trying the Ajovy, I figured it couldn’t hurt and I had nothing to lose since this was likely my last treatment option. I’m due for my next injection tomorrow and this will be month 3. I almost couldn’t believe it when I’ve had migraine pain down to a 3 out of 10 because the lowest it’s been in the past 2 years is 6 out of 10. I’ve even had days since I started the Ajovy where I’ve felt very little pain.

Sooooo…to answer your questions: I’m taking Ajovy and it’s been a miracle medication for me! The only issue I seem to have with it is that about 5-6 days before I’m due before my next shot, the medication seems to wear off.

I hope this helps 🙂 I didn’t mean to write a book LOL

    1. Thank you, Kimberyee, for writing! I just had my last Aimovig injection so I will be trying Ajovy hopefully next month, with approval from my insurance company. I am looking forwards to having fewer migraines.
