Any particular brand of magnesium?

My neurologist has suggested I try taking a magnesium supplement in addition to 200mg of metoprolol daily to try to better manage my migraines. I know there's so many different supplement companies and they're not all the same quality. Anyone know of any particular brands of magnesium that are better than any others when taking for migraine management? And anyone know if any particular types are better than any others (magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, etc.)

  1. Hi there , Thanks so much for your question! As you wait for possible feedback from the community regard a brand, another member asked a similar question and I just wanted to share the comments with you. You can take a look at it here - https://migraine.com/q-and-a/magnesium/. Hope this helps! -Joanna (Migraine.com Team)

    1. You want to find liquid or powder magnesium. I get ionic magnesium in liquid that my pain management doctor carries in stock.

Don't even bother with oxide - it doesn't do anything but laxative pretty much. Glycolate or something like that is the gentlest on your stomach but pricy. Try going to any health food store and asking. The ones available in Safeway, shoppers, rexall and all low quality?

Very good supplement to take, I noticed a HUGE increase in symptoms when I ran out during moving and didn't get it for 3 weeks. Not pain reduction unfortunately but helps my muscle, joint pain, anixety and sleep issues so well worth it.
