Anyone using Midrin

Hi, does anyone still use Midrin for migraine? I’m having trouble finding it/getting it compounded. Thanks!

  1. I believe Midrin was taken off the market by manufacturers in 2018 due to one of the compounds in the drug called isometheptene mucate. I don't know if you may still find it available in Canada or another area outside the US. You may have some luck getting it compounded at a private pharmacy if you are lucky, but it is on the FDA do not compound list. I know it is an old medicine and it did work well for many people. You may have to seek out a similar alternative. Your doctor or pharmacist can probably advise you on what that might be. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    1. Hi ,
Thank you for your question. I did use Midrin back in the day, but as Cheryl mentioned it has been discontinued. I'll share the information we have here; https://migraine.com/search?s=Midrin.
I have to say this worked wonders for me. I am currently using sumatriptan nasal spray that works well too!

      1. Hoping you find something that helps with migraine disease. A little more info on WHY it was discontinued. https://migrainedisease.org/news/midrin-and-equivalents-for-migraine-say-good-bye/ Rebecca (comm advc)

          1. Thank you for sharing this with us. Some do find caffeine beneficial, for others not so much. Do you get relief from it?
