Blurry Sparkling Movie?

I was watching Titanic and all of a sudden something was wrong with the screen. I kept blinking and trying to see the movie, but then there was a large white bright light and it followed my eye line. I had no idea what an aura was, I had never heard of them. I was really scared.... And that brings me up to today where they are basically daily, not hideous every day, exhausting though and I rarely have auras at all now.

  1. Thank you for sharing your very first symptoms of migraine, . How terrifying it must have been to have this sudden shift in your vision for seemingly no reason. How long did it take for you to get diagnosed with migraines after this happened? Was it a simple journey to diagnosis, or one filled with many unexpected turns? - Cody (Team Member)

    1. It was really scary, I thought I was going blind! But then as they do it went away fairly quickly 15 or 20 mins maybe, and then since my vision was fine I thought I was just something in the movie or the theatre . And then I had another aura and maybe a few more, having no clue why. And I didn't connect the " headache" for some reason. But they were very random and rare, so I didn't remember to even ask. But as they got more frequent I finally told Dr. And then my journey with all the meds. But I was lucky that my dr knew what it was, but I didn't. And at that time Relpax did it's job! Now I have chronic daily migraine and am on lots of drugs and still are having them.... So I'm a work in progress.

      1. that does sound very scary! Especially experiencing it multiple times and not knowing what it was or what it related to. Thank goodness your doctor was aware of the possible symptoms and the treatment helped, but my goodness I wish you weren't dealing with chronic daily migraine now that is a work in progress! Can I ask what you're on right now? (I apologize if you already shared this and I have forgotten.) -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)

    2. I know some day that something will help! I also have fibromyalgia so there is a big crossover with which drug is used for which issue, but here's the list! Lyrica, amitriptyline, topimax, sertraline, tryptophan, vitamin D, magnesium.....I think that's it....

      1. I'm happy to hear that you and your medical team were able to discover a treatment plan that tackles both fibromyalgia and migraines. I can imagine the relationship between them both is murky and complex. The boundaries between where one begins and one ends is not always clear...Do you notice they tend to feed off each other when one flares? Or is it more like this puddle of sensations and feelings without any clear way to separate them? So curious to hear more about your experience. - Cody (Team Member)

    3. I think it is very murky for everyone. Drs still to diagnose me with whatever they are feeling in the moment, a lot of time right.., but do often I finally get in to see specialist and I would be there for all the tingling nerves and numbness say. And they would focus on my Vestibular migraine and in my muddled head I was elated that finally someone was paying attention.... And then tingling happens and I go back to square one, but am now trying something for the vestibular migraine. And that happens ALL the time!
So theoretically I seem to have it all covered, but no one is actually able to connect all the dots. So I sit in my chair doing art and embroidery and practice the miraculous art of distraction! Most days are 2 distraction days, embroidery and audiobook but on the 3 distraction days I struggle a bit to find 3 that match! And I really have no clue what chronic illnesses my daily challenges are from. Doesn't really matter I guess. I plug along and love my distractions!
Thanks for listening to my ramblings!

      1. the murky lack of dot-connecting sounds challenging, and frustrating, even if things are theoretically all covered. Your distractions do sound lovely though, at least when you're able to do them. Do you have a favorite type of audiobook? Also, we love to hear ramblings from our community members! So thank you for sharing!! -- Warmly, Christine (Team Member)
