College student looking for community in Maine

Hi all!

I’m a college student going to school in Boston and currently living in Portland, Maine. I’ve had chronic migraine for around a year and a half now, and don’t currently know anyone very well who’s suffering from the disease. Especially trying to go to college, I’ve pushed myself really hard to continue to get good grades, and have found it to be a really challenging and isolating experience. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good support groups in either Maine or Boston (or even good virtual ones), or just wanted to talk about having chronic migraine and going to college, or being a young adult in general. 😀

  1. HI!

    Good for you! Support is so important when living with chronic illness.

    There are a number of virtual support groups that you can check out;

    There is the Migraine.com Facebook page, a wonderful supportive community; https://www.facebook.com/MigraineDotCom/

    Chronic Migraine Awareness, Inc. has a number of Facebook support groups; https://www.facebook.com/groups/cmaware/

    Miles for Migraine has actual weekly support group meetings that may be of interest; https://www.milesformigraine.org/migraine-support-community-groups/.

    Please let me know how those work out for you!
    Gentle hugs,
    Nancy
