Has anyone looked into nerve compression as a cause for chronic migraines?

Hi all,

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone still struggling with migraines that won’t quit.

For years, I dealt with severe migraines—temple pain, light sensitivity, tension across my forehead—that just wouldn’t fully go away despite trying meds, Botox, and everything else. CT scans and eye exams all came back normal, so I felt stuck.

Then I learned about nerve compression as a cause for chronic headaches. I started seeing Dr. Adam Lowenstein in Los Angeles, who specializes in diagnosing and treating nerve-related migraines.

He used diagnostic nerve blocks to pinpoint which nerves were causing my pain and recommended nerve decompression surgery. It sounded scary at first, but the results have been amazing. My migraines have dramatically decreased in frequency and intensity, and the light sensitivity is mostly gone.

If you’ve been searching for answers and haven’t found them yet, I really encourage you to look into nerve decompression. It made a huge difference for me.

Feel free to ask me any questions!

  1. Hi , thanks so much for sharing about nerve decompression and how it's been helping you get some relief. It can be so encouraging to hear from people who have positive experiences and good results from various treatments. We actually have had a couple of community members mention nerve decompression. These two posts the members wrote about positive results with this same (or similar) surgery, here https://migraine.com/stories/my-daughter-migraine-headache, and here, https://migraine.com/stories/nerve-decompression-surgery-for-migraines.

We appreciate you being willing to share more information about your experience with this. Can I ask how long it took after the surgery for you to start to notice a difference?
