I don't know what to do.

I am a 12 year old female. My migraines started about a year ago, but they were not severe and they only happened about once a week. They've gotten worse since then, and about a month and a half ago they became a constant pain.

Even when I wake up in the middle of the night it doesn't go away. It's still getting worse, and these days I usually have a 24-7 headache that's about an 8 out of 10 on the pain scale, ten being the worst.

I've seen a doctor and she said to take COQ10, Vitamin B2, and Aleve when needed. I do all of this and also get enough sleep, drink lots of water, etc. I don't go long periods of time without eating and I also take magnesium supplements. Nothing helps.

Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks.

Also I apologize if this is a bit unclear, I am trying to type this with a 9 out of 10 headache.

  1. Hi there- Thanks so much for reaching out and so sorry to hear you are in such pain. We are not medical professionals here so cannot advise you in that way. I would like to ask what kind of doctor you are seeing? Is it a migraine specialist? Are you having any other symptoms besides head pain (nausea, vomiting, dizziness, etc)? if so, it may be a good idea for you to talk with your parents/caregivers to help you seek an evaluation from a migraine specialist - these doctors are better trained to evaluate and treat migraine. There are medications more specifically designed to target migraine than those you've been prescribed but due to your age, I'm unsure what might be safe for you. If you/ your parents/caregivers need help finding a migraine specialist, please let us know and we can send you a link to help find one in your area. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.

    1. Thank you so much Holly! I will take your advice.
