medication ketamine/lidocaine

Hello, have any of you lovely people heard of or tried a ketamine/lidocaine infusion for severe pain?

It's one of the options that I've been told will be suggested to me by Dr Outhwaite at my appointment at King Edward's hospital in London next week.

Thank you

  1. I have tried the ketamine infusions. They were relaxing but did not affect me the way I hoped. Additionally, they were pretty expensive. For me, they ended up not being worth the cost to continue trying them. - Amanda W (team member)

    1. thank you that's really helpful, sorry they didn't work for you. Do you mind me asking did you have the ketamine infusions in the UK? where they for chronic migraine pain? thanks again for answering.

    2. I had ketamine infusions in the US, Texas to be exact. Things are probably very different in the UK. If you end up giving it a try, I would love to hear about your experience! - Amanda W (Team Member)

  2. Great question! While I've not had this medication before I can share with you other's experiences here on our site, in addition to the information gave you.

  3. I had a lot of success with the ketamine. I had a 6 day inpatient stay where the IV was going the entire time and with ketamine and it was being titrated up based on your weight, pain and any side effects from it. Prior to this, my daily pain was about a 7 average and very difficult and unmanageable at times. Post ketamine my pain was reduced down to an average of 2! This worked great and I was encouraged but after two months or so the relief I was getting slowly went away. I felt like for me it was definitely worth being hospitalized for 6 days to get so much relief after. I was more present within my family as I functioning way more than prior. Do you know if you'd be getting this in outpatient facility or in a hospital over a period of time ? Even though I had a positive experience it doesn't mean that everyone will have that same response as we are all different. I hope your appointment goes well! Let us know how it went. We'd love to hear about it.
