Medication Problems

I have been to two pain clinics and endured countless trials of different medications. Some things work for a short time, others work not at all. Presently I use Tylenol 3 for the pain and Gravol for the nausea. Both are increasingly hard to obtain. At some pharmacies, I get a bonus lecture along with my pills on using an opiate. I live between two provinces and can't take a prescription for an opiate from one province to another. Therefore I have to have a doctor in each province. One doctor makes me renew the prescription every 30 days. The other gives me a series of refills on a 30 day repeat. Sometimes I used aspirin to make it to the 30 day repeat, which eats the lining of my stomach out.

In the years since I've been identified as having chronic migraines there has been little progress in developing opiate free medications that work. As it's getting increasingly difficult to obtain T3's I'm anxious about the future. My life is ruled by my migraines.

    An additional problem can occur when we take migraine medications, AND/OR pain medications, whether they are over-the-counter or prescription, more than two to three days a week. If we do, we may end up in a rebound cycle that is hard to break, experience endless daily pain, and our migraine attacks may be more difficult to treat. I've been here - it's no fun, but possible to stop it. Let me share information on rebound with you;

    One of the reasons pain medications don't work well for migraine disease is that they mask pain, not stop the migraine process, and that what we really want, stopping a migraine attack. Medications that stop an attack are called triptans. Try not to lose hope! I know if may feel like you've tried everything that is available for migraine prevention, but that's probably not the case. There are over 100 medications and supplements that can be used for migraine prevention. When you get a moment take a look at this information;

    I'll stop now before I overwhelm you. Please let me know what you think.
