Meds for "smaller" headaches
What rx does everyone have luck with for their "smaller" headaches? These are the headaches that are a 4/5 in strength but you don't want them to get out of control to where you have to use an abortive on them. My go-to for this type of headache was Midrin (which I am currently able to get in my area), but its effectiveness seems to be wearing off. I use triptans for my abortives and those still work great. The doc recently gave me some samples of Diclofenac and they were just ok. I've learned the hard way that I can get trapped in the MOH cycle with ibuprofen, etc, so I wanted to avoid that. I just wanted to get some other opinions.

In addition to the feedback I hope you get from the community, I wanted to share my personal experiences as a fellow migraineur.
I find that Cambia (the powder form of diclofenac) works much better than the pill.
Though it is the same medication, the powder gets into your system much quicker. Because it is a name brand, it can be pricy. My insurance covers it but it is still a $75 co pay for 4 packets. However, I use a manufacturer’s coupon and it only costs $20! Here is some more info:

I also use the triptans and sometimes if the attack is not too too bad I will take an Excedrin or Migralex (over the counters).
If you haven’t already, definitely discuss these options with your doc. Switching up your acute treatments can certainly help avoid the MOH cycle.
