Mystery of his 24/7 Migraines

Hi my boyfriend had a stroke in August 2021. It was called a Migraine Infarction Stroke. Rare and no one knows what to do for him. The severe migraines never go away. He takes 27 plus medicines and it never goes away. We just want the pain down so he can function. He has brain damaged, memory recall, reading and comprehension issues. Plus vision issues and now a pacemaker. They said his heart might have caused it but can't explain the 24/7 migraines. If anyone can give advice or help please do so. Thank you!!

  1. Hi there- thank you so much for writing in to share what you and your boyfriend are up against. Sounds like such a challenging journey. I have not heard of "migraine infraction stroke" before and we are not medical professionals. We do have many people here who live with chronic daily migraine (living with some level of migraine pain almost constantly). As migraine is a complex neurological disease, it can impact brain function - lack of clarity of thought (brain fog), memory, dizziness, fatigue, and much more. The challenges related to his heart sound alarming and I hope he's being followed by appropriate doctors. Similarly, we would recommend that he be followed by a migraine specialist to work in concert with the rest of his team. Migraine specialists are the best to help evaluate and treat this disease. Is he working with this kind of specialist yet? Are you getting adequate support yourself? It can be intense to support and care for someone facing this kind of journey. Thinking of and here for you - Holly (migraine.com team).
