Nausea with Qulipta

Lifelong male migrainer here, 69 next month. I have more than 15 episodes a month, so I qualify for a daily medicine. My doctor prescribed Qulipta, which reduces symptoms pretty good. I’ve had to stop taking it because it makes me constantly nauseated all the time. Does anyone here use this medicine, and what do you do to manage the nausea? Also, if not Qulipta, what do you take? Thanks.

  1. I'd like to take a moment and welcome you to the migraine.com community. We are glad you're here. I'm sorry to hear you've suffered from migraine disease for so long. I started experiencing migraine attacks in my teens and am now 54. I didn't take them seriously until my forties, when they began to impact my career. Qulipta has been helpful for many people. I'm glad it is helping you manage your attack cycles. I am currently using Emgality, Nurtec, and a Nerivio device to help manage my attacks. I understand having frequent nausea as I experience that as well as part of my attack cycles. I find Zofran to be helpful as well as ginger teas and drinks. Peppermint oil is also beneficial. I will say that Zofran does cause some constipation, so you may want to be wary of that if you want to ask your doctor about trying it. I take a fiber supplement that helps! I hope you continue to find relief using Qulipta. Please keep us posted. Wishing you migraine-free days, Tom migraine.com team

    1. How long have you been taking Quilipta? I am currently taking Quilipta as a migraine preventive. I was told to take it at bedtime, so I don't know if any side effects might wear off by morning. I used to take Nurtec and I experienced a lot of nausea while taking that medication. I think everyone is different in how they respond to medications. You may want to mention this nausea to your healthcare provider to see if you have other options.
      Take care,
