New sleep schedule?!

I know consistent sleep is crucial to avoiding migraines, but on Monday I start a new job where I'll have to wake up earlier than I'm used to, and tomorrow I have to wake up MUCH (like 5 hours) earlier than I'm used to for a local event I'm attending. I'm worried it'll trigger a bad one right before I start my new job, so does anyone know a trick to avoiding the pain when your sleep schedule does inevitably get altered?

  1. HI AlyAdair,

You're right - a regular sleep schedule is crucial for those of us with migraine disease. I hope you aren't hit with a migraine attack too badly.

I was going to suggest slowly backing up your bedtime a few days/week before you start your new job to help adjust. It may be a rough few days, but give that a try and let me know how you make out.

And good luck on your new job!

    1. Sometimes going to bed earlier can help with having to get up earlier for a job. It can be a struggle to adjust and can take time to make the changes to your schedule but it's definitely important to get enough sleep. Sometimes melatonin can help your body adjust to a new sleep time.
