Recommendations for stopping live migraine

I've been detoxing from Frovatriptan and Sumatriptan which I use A or B alternate months to prevent migraine that I'd otherwise get for 3 days each week. Trouble is my body gets used to it, so in order for them to work I come off of them once a year for a month, so this month has been a write off for about half of it, mainly spent laying down in the dark.
I've never found anything successful to stop a migraine whilst it is happening. Has anyone had anything work like this they could recommend?
I've tried off the counter meds in the UK and in Europe. Without success.
If it is any relevance I get..
Motion delay and image distortion
Hearing amplications and deamplications
Dizzy, esp with daylight
Travel like sickness
Memory issues and retaining information
Medium pain but can sleep
Heat waves
Loss of a full taste

  1. Hi SDOCKER- that is a tough question. Often finding the right abortive medication is a process of trial and error that is very individual- what works for one person may not even begin to work for another. Thankfully, there are several options, including some newer ones. I first want to ask if your doctor has considered a preventative treatment? The medications you mentioned above are abortive treatments meant to stop a migraine if you have one, but they can actually cause "rebound" migraines if taken more than 2-3 times a week, and should not be taken if a migraine is not present. This article helps to show the difference between preventative, abortive and rescue medications: Also, this is one of the newer abortive medications on the market, perhaps worth discussing with your healthcare provider to see if it is a good fit: Keep us posted on your progress, we are wishing you pain free days! ~Melanie ( team member)
