Visual Aura for Two Years

I have had a persistent aura without infarction for about two years. For the past two years the visual aura was on the side of my visual field. During this time I was treated with Propranolol, Verapamil and amlodipine by a migraine specialist. Last week the aura move to the center of my visual field and I have been put on diamox. I have had no relief so far.

Has anyone had any similar experience or have any thoughts?

  1. Hi maxplatinum27,

Thank you for your questions. It's good to hear you are being managed by a migraine specialist and I'm assuming have spoken with him regarding this change since there has been a change in medications. Did he share any insights?

It's entirely possible for our migraine patterns, symptoms and triggers to change over time, I know mine have. I don't however, experience visual aura. Hopefully with this new medication, you will see relief. Having said that, it can take up to 90 days before we see a reduction in our migraine attack frequency and severity while our body adjusts to the new medication. This can be frustrating because we want to feel better, but it's important to give the medication time to work.

Hopefully others will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

    Nancy
