What are some tips to prevent migraines?

Hey,
So I’ve been having migraine attacks for 2 years now and I usally get really bad one 3 times a year or more depending on what I’m doing. I also get smaller ones every two weeks. I started taking magnesium and it has really helped me not get them as often. I love going to concerts and before all this started I used to go all the time but now I always get a really bad migraine attack before a concert so I can’t really enjoy them. My doctors says that concerts are not a trigger for migraines so maybe it’s the anxiety or nervousness before a concert that triggers it. I have been avoiding concerts for a while now but I really don’t want to anymore. So does anyone know a way to prevent migraine attacks when they get started because of anxiety or nervousness? Magnesium only helps in my everyday life but not when it comes to bigger stuff like concerts.

  1. I'm sorry to hear that you're getting an increasing number of migraine attacks and that's affecting you ability to enjoy the concerts that you love so much. It's good to hear that you're getting some relief with magnesium. Regarding the anxiety, I found a couple articles that you might find helpful to read and check out the comment thread below the article.

I'm sure others will respond to your post her with their personal, firsthand experience, but I wanted to get this information in your hands in the meantime.

    1. Hmmm. I'm not an expert, but I know that many of the people here have shared they have had migraine attacks triggered by loud noises. Have you tried earplugs etc at concerts? Just wondering what your experience has been with attempting to filter the sound. I hope you can find something that helps! -Melissa, migraine team
