When did your migraines STOP?

I see a lot of discussion here about when migraine started and a lot about their effects on our lives.
I’ve had migraines all my life and they became chronic in my 40s. I’m wondering if anyone has a story about when their migraines STOPPED coming - if that’s something anyone has experienced.

  1. , While most people here live with active migraine disease, I'm sure some have had periods of remission. There is currently no cure for migraine disease, but finding ways to effectively manage it can bring our attacks to episodic levels. Personally, my migraines ceased during my pregnancies, and as I've aged and entered menopause, my attacks are less frequent, which is nice. They are also easier to control after finding ways to manage them over my lifetime. I'm sure others will chime in with their experience. Have an awesome day! Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    1. Great question!! As the best thing we can do is manage migraine - a neurological disease. Some people do go into a period of remission, others are not so lucky. Thinking of migraine in terms of asthma may be helpful. We always have migraine (its a disease without a cure at the moment) but we may not always have an attack. Let me share this information from Dr. Starling that details things much better; https://www.news-medical.net/health/Migraine-is-Just-like-Asthma.aspx.
How are you doing today? Hoping it's a low pain day, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team

      1. Thanks for your question. I am 51 and still hoping they will stop one day. Mine started in my 20s and in my 30s transformed into chronic migraines. I was told they would get better after menopause. I am now through menopause, they haven't left yet. With age, I have learned how to manage them better. I appreciate the small things in life. I paint, I take online spiritual classes, I love my cats, and most of all I love my husband. While I would love them to stop, I have figured out how to love life with them.
