"I've always had headaches to varying degrees, but in the past seven years they have been of a whole different nature. I quit drinking and using other drugs seven years ago so therefore I assumed I would be free of what I always had which were your classic hangover headaches, But lo and behold , wouldn't you know, within a month or so of my sobriety I started getting a whole new breed of headache, one that seemed to begin in the center of my forehead and just grow to the point of engulfing my whole head and always, never failed to cause severe nausea with vomiting to the point of retching countless times before I was able to finally sleep for more than fifteen minutes at a time to even attempt to sleep off the headache. And because I was so sick, I could never take any kind of medication to treat the headache, being unable to keep anything down. I couldn't even tolerate suppositories to treat the nausea. It was horrible!!
So now, I have been to several doctors, including a neurologist, and a headache specialist, which is just another neurologist, and I have had a CT scan, A CT angiogram, the results of which I will know this coming Fri., and I am taking Amitriptyline to prevent the headaches, and Zomig, both in pill form for when I can catch it in time to keep it down long enough and a nasal spray for when I can't. And I have also tried Maxalt Mlt,and Sumatriptan dosepro needlefree, none of which work consistently, but when they do they work very well. The problem is that I still get sick often enough( at least once a month) that I can't hold a job and have had to miss several appointments and other commitments, so needless to say it has become a very real disruption in an otherwise very busy life. I am at my wit's end with this. I have been told I may do just as well to apply for disability which I loathe the thought of, I can't imagine that.
Any thoughts?? I know I am only one among many but I only wish for some way to manage this, maybe with the deep breathing and diet changes, vitamin or mineral deficiency, or exercise? Someone even mentioned sleep disorders??
I just had another episode on Christmas day, woke up with the headache, took the nasal spray, went back to sleep, then woke up two hours later only to find the headache had gone almost completely but was very nauseated and vomiting all day long...HELP!!??"
