"i recently established a new primary care physician and she's been going through my health history to try and have a better understanding of everything going on with me and my body. as more and more information surfaces from my past i'm realizing that basically all my health problems have always just been written off and dismissed and ignored as puberty or hormones or something i'd grow out of.
i'm starting to wonder if migraine hasn't become the new catch-all excuse that my doctors and i use to ignore or dismiss medical problems in my adult life. i know that migraine is a very complex problem on its own, but there are other things that could very well be going on with me.
when your migraine affects every aspect of your life, how do you know the difference between something that's migraine-related and something that's not?"

  1. @metaloochie that's a good question, and it's one that I think we all end up asking ourselves from time to time. Migraine disease is so very complex and impacts people in different ways. That is why I believe it is a good idea to have a well-rounded and helpful team of doctors look at your health and the symptoms you experience. There are times I'm sure that other more subtle illnesses can be hiding along with migraine disease. It takes good doctors with productive interactions with us to help vet out these possible situations. I would encourage you to lean on your doctors for their expertise, but also take the time and do your own research. Go to your visits armed with knowledge and a desire to make the most of your visit. It's no fun going to the doctor all the time so you have to make the times you go productive. You know your body and what you are experiencing better than anyone. Don't ever forget that. I wish you the best of luck getting the answers you need from your team of doctors. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team
