"I’m pleased to say that, this morning I did NOT have a crashing migraine, for the first time in 6 days. 🎉🎉🎉 I still have a bit lingering pain, but, nothing like what it’s been, THANK G-D! In addition, yesterday, I turned my head backward & sideways to try & see a clock (hard to explain,) & was IMMEDIATELY struck by a spinning vertigo. 😵‍💫 That lasted about 25 minutes or so, gradually dissipating. If it weren’t so obviously related to the twisting of my head, AND that the episode was pretty short lived, I would have been obliged to get to an Emergency Department, or call 911. I’m on 2 different anticoagulants, & have had a history of 9 deep vein thrombosis (clots.) So, I do have to try to be calm & not over react, while also not under react, when strange (stranger ) happen. Have I mentioned that I’m a retired RN, & worked Critical Care for many years? It’s a little challenging to be the patient, but also have knowledge that I can probably predict what will happen if I do go into ED. 🤷‍♀️ To paraphrase a quote, it’s almost like, who am I this time, except that “this time” is simultaneous. If you can get your head around that, you are probably either a working health professional or, like me, a retired health professional. 😉"

  1. So happy to hear that you were able to begin yesterday without a migraine. What a relief it must have been!!

It's also fascinating to hear that you're a retired RN.
Do you feel like your professional experience and knowledge helps you communicate what your migraines are like in a more effective way? - Cody (Team Member)

  2. Good morning, Cody. That’s actually a good question. If I’m not experiencing a significant migraine at the time of the appointment, it helps. However, if the migraine is severe enough that it’s affecting my speech, & I’m struggling to even make myself understood in normal conversation, then it’s like an aphasia. In that case, no, it’s not really helpful.

  3. That makes total sense. Aphasia is such a tough symptom. I wish there was more research on helpful approaches to resolving it. It seems like most people who experience it just have to wait until it passes. Thanks for elaborating! - Cody (Team Member)
