  1. "so tired of being tired"

  2. "Can anyone identify with migraine brought on by stress and seems to be like a massive panic attack that goes on for days sometimes. I can feel it when it starts to subside as it develops into waves of panic. It’s horrible. Lots of diarrhoea. "

    1. Greetings- thank you so much for sharing how stress/anxiety and migraine can result in the feeling of a full-body panic attack. You are not alone in this. We have several resources on our site where contributors and community members have shared a similar experience: https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-and-anxiety-a-multi-faceted-relationship. And: https://migraine.com/video/lets-talk-about-panic-attack.

It does sound like an awful experience in the way that it is prolonged and impacts your stomach as well. Are you working with a migraine specialist or doctor to help treat your migraine condition? This would definitely be worth discussing with a doctor to brainstorm ways to proactively treat these attacks when you feel them coming on and/or treat them once they are full-blown with rescue medications/strategies. We can send you some links for migraine specialists if you would like (migraine specialists are doctors who have received more specialized training in evaluating and treating migraine).

So grateful you shared about this- we are here for you to provide information, compassion, and support anytime.

  3. "Recovering from 24 hours of migraine and extreme pain due to (I think) eating some food that has turned out to be a big trigger. I had a terrible night, felt delirious and "out of it". I've been flattened by this today. I had to change my plans (I don't usually make plans haha). I am very strict with my diet and have seen great results, but for a change had some brown rice for dinner. It's on the safe food list for low histamine/tyramine but I suppose we all have our own individual triggers! It's had me in tears today as I had been making some progress. Hopefully I will have a better sleep tonight and a better day tomorrow. "

    1. oh my!! I am so sorry to hear this. I have been there. Something that did not used to trigger me so bad, started, a few years ago. I am so sorry that something that you thought was safe, turned out to be not so. Food as a trigger is a very hard one to work though, at times. In case you had not heard of all of these, I wanted to share about some common ones: https://migraine.com/migraine-triggers/food-and-drinks. What types of things normally work to resolve your symptoms?
I also hope that tonight will be a better night for you. Having a migraine for 24 hours is terrible. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing. (Tonya, team member).

    2. HI and thanks for getting in touch. I'm finally starting to feel a bit better. The pain was excruciating. Yes I had discovered the list by Kerrie Smyers on a reply to another post from Holly Harding. The food was on the "safe' list and it was brown rice, but I know that if food is on the list it doesn't mean it is safe for me. I think it was the last thing that tipped the bucket over, I had a flare up of Lyme symptoms the day before plus on that day I was out in the cold weather and it was a day of stress.

    3. I'm glad to hear that you're experiencing some much needed relief. The pain of migraine can truly be excruciating. And I can definitely identify with you in the dance of identifying your triggers. It times a lot of time and patience. In the end it's worth it, but its not necessarily an easy process. I hope that it goes smoother for you.

    4. I am glad to hear that you feel better. Having multiple diseases/conditions can be very difficult to manage. For me, when one thing flares up, the next does too. Is there anything you do to try to handle the stress that comes with multiple conditions? Something I do is, adult coloring books. I hope you have something that helps you de-stress. 5. It’s truly difficult when it feels like you’ve taken a step forward only to encounter a setback. Migraines can be tenacious, and the frustration of finding triggers, especially when you’re being so careful with your diet, is quite palpable. It’s okay to feel upset about this — your progress means a lot to you, and it’s tough when it feels threatened. I hope you have found some relief and restful sleep you need to recover. Here's to better days ahead. How are you feeling today - 2 days down the road? Wishing you the best - Rebecca (team member)

    6. It's taken some time to recover a bit but I'm still finding the fatigue cycle hard to escape from!

    7. Ugh, the fatigue ... my worst symptom. I get it. I've done a few things to help mine. Make sure I eat at least 3 meals a day, take meds on schedule, get rest, and I've found iron with b vitamins helps. It's given me some added energy throughout the day. I found I was pushing through, not eating or resting, without any self-care. I hope you get a chance to provide self-love. Warmly - Rebecca (team member)

  4. "Feeling an improvement since I came off an anti-depressant. My migraine attacks are less frequent and importantly much less severe. Also I have adopted a low histamine diet and found a great probiotic, courtesy of a nutritional therapist here in Ireland. It has taken a lot of trial, error and money, but hopefully I'll see an improvement in my quality of life. I'm also off HRT as it was definitely triggering the severe attacks. "

    1. Thank you so much for sharing more about your journey with us. Continually reevaluating what we are taking- what's working- what treatments may be causing side effects that are either more troubling than the condition itself or that perhaps rival the symptoms of migraine-- is an important and laudable exercise. As we age - our interactions with medications can evolve and change.
Anything to do with hormones (birth control, hormonal changes every month or over our lifetimes) can impact migraine attack frequency and severity in a major way for women: https://migraine.com/migraine-triggers/hormonal-changes. Staying aware of how these changes may impact our migraine condition is important. Wonderful that you have done so with your HRT.
Just as important is carefully thinking about our diet. Again- kudos to you for exploring dietary options and embracing an option that works for you. The low-histamine diet works for many people in our community: https://migraine.com/blog/the-migraine-food-trigger-youve-probably-never-heard-of.
I join you in hoping that your efforts (including research, time, energy, and money) will result in an improved quality of life. Living with migraine involves this continual reevaluation of tactics and how they align with our natural evolution.
We hope you'll stay in touch and let us know how things go for you as we both look forward to learning from you and want to support you as you continue along in your journey. Warmly - Holly (team member)

    2. thanks for that, really interesting reading about histamine and DAO. The elimination diet mentioned is more thorough than any I have seen before and maybe explains some reactions to food I’ve been having.
Of course DAO is something else I have tried and have had an adverse reaction to, due to autoimmune disease. Sigh… 😀
