What kind of magnesium is recommended for migraine?

I've been taking magnesium for several years for migraines and never seemed to help. I didn't know how many kinds of magnesium there are until recently. Been researching all kinds but which kind is actually recommended specifically for migraines. I'm very confused. Help!!

  1. Hi there Suludo,
It sure can be overwhelming! As with any treatment/supplement it is important to discuss the best type and dosing with your doctor. However, in the meantime, here is a comprehensive overview of magnesium that you may find useful to review - https://migraine.com/blog/magnesium-supplementation/. Additionally, here is another article where you may find the member comments especially helpful to review at the conclusion of the article regarding their experiences with magnesium - https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-treatment-series-oral-topical-magnesium/. Good luck with your continued research and I hope you find the right type that works effectively for you!

    Best,
