I am 53 yr old and I get severe migraines. My mom and sisters do also. Lately they are getting worse. I have pain behind my eye to the top of my head. Lights and some sounds hurt. I can’t see through my eye clearly. I vomit and there is aura. This always lasts 3 days. Then one day later the migraine goes to the other eye. I am in bed in the dark for 6 days. They have been getting more painful and coming more often. I take vitamins b2 riboflavin 200mg and magnesium 500mg. When I feel the migraine coming I take maxalt with very little relief. I have tried botox but that Wears off in 6 weeks then the migraine hits and is even more painful. I can’t go to work so I call off this happens alot so I get fired. Once I tried to go to my doctor and I crashed my car over the parking cement slots. It’s very blurry in the eye and I can’t look at any lights. I use to get migraines once a month but now it’s every week. I am at my wits end and don’t know what to do. I get a job then the migraine hits and I get fired. This has been going on for the last 2 yrs. I can barely make rent. I try to work as much as I can. This is all getting to be too much.

I can relate to your struggles with work. I too had issues having to leave or call in frequently. I did have my neurologist complete intermittent FMLA paperwork which allowed me to be off when a migraine attack hit without affecting my job. Which the lights, computers, and smells still became too much, I filed for disability eventually and I was so thankful for all that documentation for all my suffering and was approved my first time filing. Still working with my doctors on the right preventatives.

Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I have see my PC doctor and neurologist for botox. Botox worked but as soon as it wore off in 6 weeks the migraine hit worse than before. I read both articles and do see a glimmer of hope. I will look for a headache specialist asap.
Thank you again for all your help.
