Chronic Migraines, Severe Head Injury and Bipolar

I had a head injury in 2002 and I’ve been suffering from Chronic Migraines/Cluster headaches/Ice Pick Headaches and I’m also Bipolar. I can’t function, I’ve had several CT Scan’s done and also a Lumbar Puncture, but when I had the LP done I received a staph infection.

I don’t know what else to do, I have daily headaches and about 3-5 days a week I have migraines, this is no way to live any help would be nice.

thank you,

I’m so sorry you are suffering. I wanted to let you know that our own Nancy Harris-Bonk sustained a head injury years ago as well that exacerbated her Migraines tremendously. You have a lot in common with her and might enjoy reading her story here:

Being bipolar in addition to having Migraines adds a new complexity to your condition. I’m sure the isolation of having Migraines can really trigger emotional low points for you. Have you ever been on Depakote? It is a drug commonly used to treat bipolar disorder, but it is also given to Migraine patients. It may kill two birds with one stone for you. Of course you should discuss with your doctor.

    I wish you well!

Thank you, and yes I have been prescribed that medication and it did more damage than could have imagined; The medications don’t seem to have a good effect rather seem to make things worse. I struggle every day and I feel as though people around me don’t seem to understand nor care. And it makes me only more angry. I will look at her story but thank you for the advice, I really do respect the help.

    Thank You,
