Does Lyrica Help?

I read somewhere that Lyrica can be helpful. My doctor would be willing to prescribe it but I've tried so many things. I'm frustrated and tired of spending money on drugs that don't work.

  1. Hi Haven02,

Thanks for reaching out; it's so frustrating to keep trying new treatments and medications that don't end up working! Part of the bugaboo is that, while you may get feedback from the community on personal experience, treatments can work differently for different people—ARG, right?! Since you asked specially about Lyrica, I found this that you may find helpful: https://migraine.com/blog/migraine-and-fibromyalgia/. I also came across this article that has a great list of questions to ask your doctor about new medications to try to avoid some of this frustration—perhaps this will be helpful, too: https://migraine.com/blog/5-guidelines-for-questioning-your-doctors-about-migraine-treatments/. I sincerely hope that you find some relief from your symptoms soon. We're here for you and hope you'll share your progress with us.

    1. I started Lyrica about a month and a half ago and it is really helping me. I was very upset when they suggested it at first pain management appointment. It makes you so drowsy and fat, and the one time I tried taking it I made it only a few days. I committed myself to trying it, and I started lower than they told me. I basically said if I have to sleep 10 hours a day so be it. And I slowly started to get used to it. And it is really helping, I feel better in a lot of different ways. I also have a lot of non typical symptoms that are probably more fibro than migraine, but it's really taken the edge off my daily pain levels, given me energy when I am awake, I no longer feel ill all the time, its been wonderful.

      1. I didn't find it helpful, made things far worse.
