Job search concerns

I have a been a chronic migraine sufferer for ten years. I recently came to the conclusion that working full time in the stressful field of social work is not in the cards for. However, I do want to work part-time in my field. I want to be transparent about the fact that I have a chronic medical condition when interviewing, especially since employers have been curious as to why I am applying for jobs I am overqualified for 😀 How have people handled this? Do we have any legal rights in this regard? Thanks so much!

  1. Hi spockpants,

Thank you for reaching out to us with this difficult question. I understand how you feel. Before I applied for SSDI, I worked as a receptionist in a vet's office which I was overqualified. It took about six weeks to discover I was unable to work due to migraine disease and other chronic pain issues.

Hopefully others will be along shortly to share their experiences with you.

    Nancy
