Looking for Migraine Expert In Florida

  • By 2am678h

I live in Naples, Florida and have been treated by numerous neurologists for migraine. Have tried dozens of medications in many different combinations, have completed 2 treatments of Botox which have not proven to be effective. Please, if anyone can make any suggestions for a migraine expert, I am willing to move on and try another doc. I have been on steroids too many times and have encountered negativity in the ED. Help! Please!

    Hi 2am678h,

Thank you for your question. I’m sorry you are having such a rough time, but did want to mention it can take 2 – 3 rounds of Botox before we see a difference in our migraine frequency and severity.

I don’t have any personal recommendations on a doctor for you but can tell you, you’re in luck as there are a number of doctors who are board certified in headache medicine in FL. Being board certified in headache medicine is different than being certified in neurology. Here is a list of doctor who are board certified in headache medicine; http://www.ucns.org/globals/axon/assets/10300.pdf.

This article discusses how to go about picking an expert out; https://migraine.com/blog/really-find-headache-specialist/.

Good luck and let us know how you make out,
    Nancy

This is great news if we relocate to that area! 2am678h, We are considering a move from CO to Naples for some migraine relief for me. Are you a native of southern FL? Or have you moved from somewhere else? If you have moved to Naples, did you find any improvement at all with your migraines? I am debilitated about 50% of my days and looking for even the slightest improvement. THanks!

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville has a new headache specialist in neuro, Dr. Rozen. I’m currently seeing him.
