Aimovig

I have used Aimovig for 7 months. 140 p. 4 weeks. In the beginning it was not easyat all because of all the muscle pains (I needed dry needling), dizziness, fatique, confudes, eyeside not ok, nausea and more, but it really did a great job for to reduce my migraine attacks to 6-10 days p. month instead of 19 days. After 5 months the side effects were less, so I could live with it. And the migraines became even less. But then came the swellings in my inner lips and mouth. They are gone now.
And now I have a problem and I feel ashamed to tell this, but since a couple of weeks I have hypertrophy of the clitoris. I don't know how to sit, how to cycle, how to walk and I cannot wear trousers, only skirts, it is so painfull and annoying. It is driving me crazy! Please tell me, is there anyone with the same the same problem? I feel very healthy otherwise so I cannot imagine what could cause this except from the Aimovig side efects. Today I decided to stop for 3 months with the Aimovig to see what will happen. I feel very sorry to stop the Aimovig, because it helps so very well for my migraines. THANKS!

  1. Hi ,

Thank you for sharing this with us. I've not heard of this as a potential adverse side effect of Aimovig, but that certainly doesn't mean it's not possible.

If you haven't reached out to you OB/GYN yet, that may be a good place to start. Will you keep me posted on how you are doing? Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Advocate/Moderator

    1. Thanks, yes I have scheduled an appointment with the gynaecologist. Just to be sure.

      1. I'll keep you informed

        1. Thank you! Better to be safe. I look forward to your update!

      2. I don't have any solutions for you but I just want you to know that you have our support and there is nothing to be ashamed of. It takes bravery to be honest about reproductive issues. I can only imagine how painful that must be. I am interested to hear what your doctor says -- this would be the first time we've heard of this happening with Aimovig, but as Nancy said, anything as possible. Take good care of yourself! Sending a hug to you. -Melissa, migraine.com
