Artificial sweeteners

My special needs daughter gets migraines when she has artificial sweeteners of any kind, as do I, is this usual?

  1. Hi@ ,
Migraine triggers can vary widely, but many members note artificial sweeteners as a trigger. You can browse the conversation here: https://migraine.com/search?s=artificial%20sweeteners.

Also, just a note, both of my boys are neurodiverse. They reacted badly to both sugar and to artificial sweeteners, but had success with erythritol, xylitol and allulose. Do note that the 'ols, are sugar alcohols and can cause intestinal distress and diarrhea. But it may be worth talking to her doctor about potential benefits of some of the natural zero calorie sugars, like those mentioned or stevia. - Warmly, Donna (team member)
