Hi it's me Susan. I recently had a MRI to find out why I was getting migraines. The MRI showed spine damage and she mentioned operation or alternative cortizone shots in my neck. Anyway, has anyone ever heard of Prochlorperazine 10 mg? It's supposed to help with nausea and headaches and I am afraid to take them. I don't do well with new meds. I have to go back and see her because she had a mask on and I barely could hear or understand her. My fault, I should have told her then. So until I receive more info I am at a loss. Why do doctors give you a script that has three pages of side effects? I will be back soon, in the meantime if someone knows anything about that script please let me know... Thanks, Susan

Hi
Thank you for bringing your concerns here. I'm sorry the appointment with the doctor was so difficult. Do you have access to a patient portal you can ask questions? I've found my patient portal to be very helpful when I have questions/concerns about things. And as far as this new medication goes, if you're uncomfortable taking it, please reach out to your doctor via phone call or portal. I've not heard of it, but did a very brief search and found it can treat severe nausea. Have you tried other medications to help with this?
It's important to keep in mind migraine is a complex neurological disease falling on a spectrum from mild to severely debilitating. Problems in our spine can certainly trigger nasty migraine attacks, but we don't know the exact cause of our disease. Does that' make sense?
Let me know what you think and I'm sure others will be along shortly to share their story with you. Pain free wishes on the way, Nancy Harris Bonk, team member

As to the medication you asked about- it is also known as Compazine and is commonly employed as an anti-nausea medication. Here is a link to the resources we have on it: https://migraine.com/search?s=Prochlorperazine%20 and https://migraine.com/search?s=compazine. Everyone responds to the various anti-nausea meds differently. Some meds work better than others for different people. One of our contributors,
Regarding the spinal damage- what are your thoughts? I'm very cautious about surgical interventions on the neck. Have you tried cortisone shots before?
We are here for you- I hope some of this information may help get you started in learning more about the anti-nausea med that was prescribed for you. Warmly - Holly (team member)

I have had numerous amounts of cortizone but not on my neck not something I am looking forward to it would have been so much better if I could of understood her better but found myself just catching the spine results . I have left a message for her so hopefully she will get back to me . And now I have caught some kind of bug my betahistine is on back order its for vertigo and nausea so she sent me Prochlorperazine 10mg you know me always afraid of new pill so last night I called the pharmacist and he said oh its okay you can take it. At 9 I took 1/2 then 9:30 the other half not so bad I thought, anyway 10:15 time for my night meds which includes 1/2 oxy two pills for my legs and one amatripyline went to bed at 10:30 then somehow around 12:30 my legs were moving and not getting better so I called 811 to speak to someone who would get me a nurse it was now 3:00 am The bad memories this brought were so painful and I was wanting to sleep very badly but if anyone knows you can't sleep when having a rls attack ! So I sat at my desk and thought okay its 3 and I can take my morning meds at 7:30 so went back to bed this was another nightmare from my life finally it was almost time so I got up and took my pills then had something to put in my stomach as I said I have been fighting a stomach bug it took about an hour and then relief , I decided that I would just take care of me today so slept a lot very lonely when your sick and no one calls all day or night. I do hope you hear back from the doctor soon to get the information you need. Your question regarding the cholesterol pills is definitely best asked of a medical professional. You are so right to be wondering about the interactions between the medications you are taking. This is very important to know. If you don't hear back from your doctor on this, it could be that a pharmacist could help with this.
As to the pressure/desire to spend time with our loved ones- as you know, we have to decide on a case-by-case basis- what will give us energy- and what will take energy. Your energy is finite right now as you navigate all of these challenges so it's key that you prioritize taking care of yourself, whatever that means. Sometimes that means being quiet and sometimes that means being with loved ones who help us refill our reserves.
Please know we are sending you love and healing energy and hope that you get the important information you seek as soon as possible. Thinking of you. Warmly - Holly (team member)
