Coping Tools

What things help you get through a day when you have a bad migraine but have to go to work and function? How do you manage? Especially with a hemiplegic migraine?

  1. - good question! I work from home now but when I use to have to go to an office during an attack, I would be sure to dress comfortably- and bring ice packs I could wear around my neck. I would bring a soft scarf that I would wrap around my hands to keep my fingers busy to distract from the pain. I’d wear my Theraspecs glasses to help manage the bright indoor lighting. And in between meetings I would look at pictures that comforted me. Now that I work from home I keep my dog close as I draw so much comfort from her.
What are some ways that you make it through a tough day at work while managing migraine? Warmly - Holly (team member)

    1. Morning,
I hope you made it through all those meetings yesterday! How are you feeling today? Pain free wishes on the way, Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator (team member)

    2. A lot better, though headache is still here. Thanks.

  2. Hi Holly, first of all I want to thank you for sharing your experiences with the migraine community. Secondly, I share a lot of your concerns with medication over the past 47 years. I hate to trouble you, but I’m going through some new issues I would like to see if you and I can write via email separately on the migraine site away from the forum. I tried to look up your name with no success. Thanks, Liz 😊

    1. Hi Tonya, I appreciate you trying, means the world to me, but the link didn’t work. Have a blessed day 😊

    2. Hi Liz we certainly would love to help you get connected here. When you click on the link that Tonya provided, do you see a blue box that says "new message." You might have to scroll down to see it but it should be towards the center of the page. If you see that click on it and then you can write a message to the site. Hope this works!
