Feverfew at On-Set of Migraine

Hello! Does anyone use Feverfew at the on-set of a migraine? And if so, how much do you take?
I use Bosewellia daily, massage and acupuncture for preventative, which has reduced my migraines from 6 per month to 2 per month. I would like try Feverfew for the few migraines I get a month to stop them from being so bad.
I've talked to my doctor about using it, but she wanted me to try it daily for preventative. However, I'm having good luck with Boswellia for prevention, I was wondering if Feverfew would be a good addition at the on-set.
Thanks in advance!

  1. Hello MamaBear2, thank you for reaching out! I am glad to hear you have found treatments that are helping to manage your migraine symptoms. While we cannot offer medical advice over the internet (for your safety!), we do have several articles/forum discussions about feverfew as a supplement that I thought you might be interested in perusing: https://migraine.com/?s=feverfew Please keep us posted on what you decide and how you respond! Wishing you a gentle day. ~Allyson (Migraine.com team)

    1. Hi, MamaBear! Allyson provided a great place to start with that link -- I just want to add that Feverfew can cause withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking it suddenly, so make sure to stay in conversation with your doctor if you do start taking it regularly. Keep us posted! Looks like some people really benefit from it. 😀 -Melissa, migraine.com team

      1. Thank you both for your responses. I have heard that Feverfew can cause withdrawl symptoms, so that's another reason why I haven't tried it. I think for now, I'm going to stick with Boswellia for a few more months to give it more time to see if it can even more reduce my migraine frequency and intensity.
I have been using Boswellia in a capsule (powder form with some tumeric in there as well). Well 2 weeks ago I decided to buy Boswellia in the softgel (I think it's oil in the softgel, with no tumeric). I'm not positive but I feel like it wasn't as effective. There sure is a lot of trial and error and extra money spent when figuring out what works for our own bodies and heads. So I'm now back on the capsule to see if the tumeric or form of Boswellia makes a difference. Thank you and take care, Lori
