I need help

I'm in the throws of a horrible migraine that has lasted days now. I am so exhausted I can barely think, and hurt so much everything else is just ... unreal. It's like nothing else exists - it's all just a vague memory. All there is, is pain.

I guess I'm just asking people to remind me that there really is such a thing as the end of the migraine. Life does exist, and it doesn't always hurt.

  1. Hi Ruth,

I'm so sorry about what you're going through and know the feeling well. You will absolutely get through this pain and you took a really amazing step by reaching out here. I look forward to when you're able to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy the green leaves on the trees without any pain.

    With love,
    Nora

  2. Hi Ruth. I feel ya!! I've been intractable for 13 years now. What I can tell you is that you have to have faith and be patient. There will be a treatment out there that will help. You're not alone!! No matter how some your feel. Don't stop trying new medications and new doctors if need be to find the correct fit. Good mojo coming your way!! 🙏💙✌️

    1. Now that is commitment! But I'm so glad to hear it's paid off for you, Kim -- great doctors are true gems in this world and can make a huge difference in overall wellbeing. Keep putting yourself first. So often that's seen as selfish, but if we don't prioritize our wellbeing, then everything else falls apart. Sending hugs to you tonight! -Melissa, migraine.com team

    2. It is definitely a commitment but when you have exhausted many options, I'm willing to try anything and go anywhere because like you said I have to put myself first sometimes. In the end the better I am feeling/functioning the better it is for my family especially with having a three-year-old who is super high energy and wants her mommy to be able to enjoy fun things with her! Thanks for the virtual hugs, I'll never say no to a hug 😀
      Best,
      -Kim (Team Member)

  3. There’s no cure for migraines yet. But medications can help prevent or stop them, or keep your symptoms from getting worse. Migraine-Everything you need to know about is to avoid things that trigger your migraines. Lifestyle changes like easing stress and having good sleep habits can help, too.

  4. I hear how frustrating and painful it is to deal with migraine - we're here for you. It's true there is an ending to a migraine attack, but it doesn't feel like that when we're in the middle of one.
Here's the thing when migraine pain lasts longer than 72 hours, it's a good idea to reach out to the doctor and see how he/she can help break this cycle. There are a number of options out here. You can read more about this here; https://migraine.com/living-migraine/how-do-you-break-wont-stop.
Fingers crossed this ends asap! Will you update us? Nancy Harris Bonk, Patient Leader/Moderator Migraine.com Team
