Symptoms

In February of 2021, at the age of 66, I was diagnosed with chronic migraines. I thought my neurologist was way off base as I wasn’t experiencing, of what I thought, were the typical migraine symptoms. In fact I wasn’t experiencing headaches at all. My only symptoms, at the time, were a sore neck, dizziness, mild discomfort around one side of my sinuses and sensitivity to my teeth. The headaches began several months later. My neurologist prescribed Lamotrigine starting at 25mg and have graduated up to 300mg a day. Acupuncture has proven to be very successful in reducing the severity and the number of days I experience symptoms. I am immensely grateful that my symptoms have not been debilitating as I can function during the day. It is heartbreaking to read about others experiencing such horrible migraines. I’ve never joined any kind of forum, not sure what I’m doing, but I am very curious if anyone out there has experienced the same symptoms that I have and if anyone is on Lamotrigine, and if their symptoms became worse over time.

When treating migraine disease it is important to remember that it can be a very individualistic condition and what helps one person may not do anything for another. You must see how your body reacts to the medication or therapy regimen and move forward from there. This community has so much experience and insight to offer.
