Light sensitivity/ Migraine

I have migraine with aura but not frequently. Last Fall I was diagnosed with dry eye and blepharitis most likely caused by (MGD). The light sensitivity from dry eye is quite severe. I now get eye flashes outside if it’s really sunny or bad glare from sun or if I’m sitting at the beach. My question is does this sound more like aura, no headache or light sensitivity? It’s caused by bright glare and sunlight. I have seen 3 eye doctors and a dry eye specialist and my primary care doctor. The eye doctor says as long as the flashes go away when I’m out of the sun not to worry. It seems like no doctor knows for sure if its eye related or migraine but my retina is in perfect health. Anyone else suffer eye flashes from migraines or light sensitivity? Thank you!

  1. Photophobia is a super common migraine symptom. I can’t remember the last time I could go outside or under fluorescent lights without a hat AND sunglasses.

    1. thank you for responding! It’s nice to know I’m not alone. I wear my hat and polarized sunglasses and still get eye flashes in the bright sun. I think it’s a combination of dry eye, light sensitivity, and migraine aura. Maybe treating the dry eye will help! I hope so.

  2. Photosensitivity is also a migraine trigger.
