Medication questions

Has anyone tried Vyepti infusions, and if so,what has been your experience? Also wondering about Qulipta ? I feel like I have tried everything and these 2 newer medications have been suggested. I have had chronic migraines for 30 years, getting worse the older I get:/

Appreciate any comments! Thanks!

    1. I totally get it, Kate. Emgality works pretty well for my husband for the first three weeks of the month, but by the fourth week, he gets more frequent and painful attacks. He has been looking into Vyepti more since that would be a better fit for him in terms of administration, but the insurance authorization process is a pain. Let me know how you are doing. I'd love to hear how effective you feel they work( either Vyepti or Qulipta. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    2. To be honest, I'm not an expert in how it all works -- your best bet would be to talk with your own doc and maybe even get a second opinion, just to get a consensus from people who know better than I do. Sorry that I can't tell you more! -Melissa, migraine.com team

  2. I have tried both the Vyepti infusion and quilipta. Quilipta’s big drawback for me is constipation. I was told 66% of the people who take quilipta have this problem. I certainly did, and you had to take it every day.
I get an infusion of Vyepti 100mg once a month. It cuts the intensity of chronic migraine and sometimes the frequency as well. I am a super sensitive person and I usually feel very tired and need to rest for a day. So I schedule mine on Saturdays. Hope this helps.

    1. Thank you for the update! Good days are to be cherished, if I could learn not to overdo on those days....

    2. That IS huge! Thanks so much for sharing this with us, as well. A lot of people are considering this treatment so it's really helpful to hear how people are experiencing these medications first-hand. So grateful you are with us. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.

  3. Thank you! My prescription is every 3vmonths...I wonder if it would las that long? It sounds like you get monthly infusions so 3 months seems like it could wear off for me?
Have you found anything that works well??

    1. That's interesting to hear the difference in timing with those prescriptions. Here are some existing forums we have on Vyepti that might prove helpful in shining some light on different people's experiences with the treatment: https://migraine.com/forums/medication-questions. And: https://migraine.com/forums/starting-vyepti. Also would be a great question for your doctor. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.

  4. I have been on emgality, aimovig, qulipta, and now Ajovy. All of them seem to work well the first month and decrease in effectiveness there after. Recently my migraines have intensified, and are back to daily episodes. Does anyone think vyepti is worth trying at this point?

    1. yes, I tried everything and I had to take Vyepti 100mg once a month and give it a chance to work. I still get breakthrough migraines but they are less intense.

    2. Such a great question. I wanted to give you a few resources we have on the topic of Vyepti. Here's an ongoing forum where our community members share their experiences with that treatment so hopefully you can learn more here: https://migraine.com/forums/medication-questions. And also another forum where a member shares their experiences starting that treatment (check out the community comments following each piece as our community members are so helpful in sharing their wisdom): https://migraine.com/forums/starting-vyepti.

As to your experience with the fading efficacy of the CGRPs you've already tried, we've heard other members report this experience somewhat. Everyone is so different, but I've definitely heard it reported. Sometimes I feel that migraine has a mind of its own- like a mouse in a maze looking for cheese. No matter what barrier we place in its way, it eventually finds its way around the effective treatments, and makes its way back to wreaking havoc with attacks again and again.

Let us know if you decide to pursue Vyepti. We'd love to hear how it works for you. I know my doctors' office is not yet offering it due to still being in partial COVID mode they aren't doing infusions yet. I'd love to hear how it goes for you.

Thanks for sharing and so glad you're a part of our community. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.
