Migraine

Mine started at 19. I actually put a bag of ice into the sink and stuck my head in it. It helped. Now I have vertigo, I'm 56 now. If I do that I'll fall.

  1. Greetings and thank you for sharing some of your long journey with migraine. It is interesting how the strategies we employ to seek relief can evolve over time. As migraine itself can evolve over time in the way it presents itself and responds to treatment, etc. I can see why you would no longer want to bend over for any reason if you can help it when you're dealing with vertigo. That said, if ice still gives you relief, there are other ways to access it. We have a couple of helpful resources on this topic that may give you some ideas about this: https://migraine.com/forums/ice-vs-heat-which-team-are-you-on and https://migraine.com/video/secret-cold-hot-therapy. Be sure to take a look at the comment sections that follow these pieces as our community members offer great ideas there. I use cold therapy for my migraine attacks as well. I always have an ice pack out and in rotation and I also use the roll-on biofreeze which simulates a cold sensation. Have you found anything that works for you to replace the feeling of that immersive sink full of ice? Thanks again for chiming in. We're so grateful you are a part of our community. Warmly- Holly -migraine.com team.

    1. I wonder if a headache hat might be helpful for you. Maybe not as intense as sticking your head in ice, but it'll cool your head and you can stay upright.

      Here's one I have: https://www.amazon.com/Migraine-FOMI-Headache-Wearable-Freezable/dp/B078N1PW5D/

There are many other varieties, too. I hope you find something useful! Vertigo is absolutely miserable. Sending my empathy and support. -Melissa, migraine.com team
