Migraines close together

Hi everyone,
I’m new to this forum. I’m 50 now and in my 20s used to suffer migraine that started with a smell of burning rubber. In my 30s my migraine changed to a visual aura but thankfully have been very few and far between. 5 weeks ago I had another migraine at work that frightened me as they are so rare. However today I was just leaving for work and the aura came on again. I see a shimmering colourful C shape that just gets bigger until it disappears - then I get a headache over one eye and feel washed out. I’ve seen the doctor, who couldn’t really say why I’ve had two so close together all of a sudden. The only thing I can think of is each attack came a week after my AZ covid jab. I’m now scared I’m going to get more and more!

  1. Thank you for reaching out! I am sorry your headaches are starting to come back. As we can not give medical advice, it may be a good idea to ask your doctor if it is common that people who have gotten the vaccine to get headaches after. I hope you find some answers! Please let us know if there are any other questions you may have or if there are any resources we can show you! Warmly, Tara (team member)

    1. Hi there. So sorry you're going through this -- I hear how frightening this is for you! Tara gave you excellent advice to talk with your doctor, if you haven't already. I also want to add that changes in your migraine experience are not uncommon over the course of your life, just like you experienced years ago. I'm not sure of your gender, but both men and women can experience shifts in their migraine attacks from hormonal changes. This is especially true for women who are going through menopause. Try not to panic -- you may just need a change in your treatment plan, especially if you've been on the same medications for a long time. Keep taking good care of yourself and try to focus on one day at a time, okay? We are always here for you and I hope you'll keep us posted on what you find out. Hugs! -Melissa, migraine.com team
