So I have another lengthy discussion going on Migraine.com with regards to my experiences with Vyepti as a preventive.
After years of using Triptans (with limited efficacy), a couple of visits ago my neuro gave me some samples of Nurtec to try as an abortive.
I should add that my migraines have never followed any pattern of regularity. Even prior to Vyepti, I could go for 4-6 weeks with none, then bambambam ,one after another over the course of a week or two.
So my experiences with Nurtec appear to be no different:
With 5 chances to test out Nurtec, 2 out of 5 were what I would call really good experiences, much better than the triptans. I had almost complete relief very quickly and in one case, it even aborted the aura.
1 out of 5, I would say on par with triptans.
And 2 out of 5 were much worse than the triptans, the last one possibly one of the worst migraines I've ever had in terms of length and severity.
Not sure how to assess the benefit. I asked for samples of Ubrelvy to try next.
What is the typical experience with Nurtec as an abortive? Is it supposed to be effective most/all of the time?
