nausea and dizziness

I have been living with migraines for 30 years. My migraines usually start with auras and turn into a horrible headache. This has been the norm up until 4 years ago. I started to have bad dizzy spells and nausea. I saw my neurologist and had a bunch of tests done that all came back normal. My neurologist suggested I go to the Mayo clinic to get a second opinion which i did. All of the doctors think that my migraine symptoms have changed. My "new" migraines include the dizziness and nausea. I can have these spells for days without relief and it is miserable.

I am just curious if anyone else gets these symptoms and what they have been able to do to help alleviate them.

  1. Hi rocketjs34,

    Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It's not uncommon for our migraine symptoms and patterns to change over time.

    Dizziness and nausea are common symptoms of a migraine attack. Some people experience these with each attack, while others not so much. For nausea I've used saltine crackers and candied ginger, which help settle my stomach. This information on nausea may help as well;

    Dizziness is a tough one. My physical therapist has helped with the Epley maneuver. This helps people who have a type of vertigo called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV. I'm not suggesting this is what you have, rather what has worked for me. Here is an article on migraine-associated vertigo I hope helps;
