Posterior communicating artery infundibulum and persistent fetal origin of the left posterior cerebral artery.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else has had an MRI and the results showed a posterior communicating artery infundibulum and persistent fetal origin of the left posterior cerebral artery. My neurologist says it is nothing to worry about yet I am

  1. Hi there Kay- thanks so much for writing in with this question. I do not have information on this diagnosis so am hopeful that someone else in our community will have heard of it to be able to provide information. I'm sure it would be unsettling to hear anything regarding irregular results from an MRI. Perhaps there's another doctor (a primary, perhaps) with whom you can run these results in order to get the reassurance you are seeking? Thinking of you- Holly (migraine.com team).

    1. Hi, Kay! I hear you, that sounds imposing. We can't give medical advice here for your own safety, so I would encourage you to seek out a second opinion -- they are all about giving us peace of mind and getting as many knowledgeable people involved as possible. For now, try not to worry -- do you have a good relationship with your neuro? How is your migraine treatment going? Please know we are here to support you while you figure all this out. Take it one day at a time. Hugs to you! -Melissa, migraine.com team

      1. Yes thank you. I am not looking medical advice, I was just wondering if anyone got the same results and if their dr was not worried as well. I know I can go for a 2nd opinion but that's not so easy. I am on a plan currently as far as meds go so hoping that brings some relief soon. I just started seeing my neurologist last month. I do like him but I guess I just wonder every time I get them if it's something more. Thank you for the support 😊

        1. I understand- second opinions can require some hoops and jumping. Still, eventually might be worth it if you're waiting and not feeling any improvement/relief 'soon," as you say. There are a lot of migraine treatments out there these days, but I'm sure you are referring to other meds relating to the condition you mentioned above? If you are talking about migraine treatment- here's an interactive page we have that helps to walk you through the options, in case you're interested: https://migraine.com/treatment-options. Please let us know if you have any questions. And yes, still hoping we'll have a community member chime in to say they relate to your diagnosis. Warmly, Holly (migraine.com team).

        2. I hear you. It can be tough to settle into a relationship with a new doctor, for sure. My fingers are crossed for you that the medication plan works and that there's truly nothing to worry about with the scans. Have a peaceful week! -Melissa, migraine.com team

      2. I am currently taking medication for my migraines. The dr was not worried about what was on the MRI. Of course I Google it and it says it is something to worry about. Big mistake lol. I have an appointment next month so I will definitely voice my concerns over this. Thank you 😊
