treatment

I have a chronic headache for 30 years after head injury in a car accident.
Was treated with botox. It gave me a break for a couple of years. Then I was treated with antidepressants that killed my sex drive for good. They did not stop headache anyway.
Then came gabapentin. The dose of 200 was raised to 2700. The maximum is 3000. Now Nurtec ODT. IT helped a little today. Didn't help yesterday. Causes nausea. Please tell me about your experience w . Nurtec.

  1. @15cjdk7 my husband has been using Nurtec ODT for about a year now. He uses it to help with breakthrough migraine attacks. He is also using Emgality monthly injections which has been a great help as well. Here is a link to an article he wrote that talks about his experience with Nurtec. https://migraine.com/living-migraine/nurtec-experience
He also takes Zofran to help with nausea as it occurs. He was also on 2400mg of gabapentin for quite a while, but that didn't work so he discontinued it. I hope you have some luck with Nurtec! Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    1. Cheryl,
one more time I want to thank you for the info on Nurtec ODT. I took only two pills. The first one didn't help. The second day it did. From your entry I found out that it takes 3 hours for the full relief. Great. Now I won't be impatient with the result.

      1. @15cjdk7 That's no problem! Sometimes being patient during an attack can be very difficult. I hope you find that Nurtec helps you in the future. Warmly, Cheryl migraine.com team

    2. Cheryl,thanks again.

      1. I am sorry to know that you have still searched for a remedy that can cure your headache permanently. My mom had a severe migraine and she had two migraine attacks and was hospitalized both times. She was under medications similar to yours after her 1st attack. But nothing helped her to get the 2nd one. Then I was asked by one of my friends to try herbal remedies. Since I was very much desperate to get the proper treatment I tried Ayurveda (Ancient Indian Medicines). That worked. I follow iahas.com for all the herbal remedies I need but there are other sites where you can search for herbal remedies for your condition. I am sure it will help you.

        1. Thank you, Sydney.
I will certainly try Ayurveda herbs.
I hope it will be the end of my 30 year old search.

        2. I know I was just writing you about Nurtec- we'd recommend you checking in with your doctor about trying anything new. Let us know how things go for you. Thinking of you. Warmly- Holly (migraine.com team)
