Unusual trigger?

I was shopping for groceries with my daughter. When we were done, before we left the store (Wal-Mart), I stopped at the bathroom. Right next door in the men's bathroom there was an EXTREMELY strong small of pot. Like someone just lit up. By the time my daughter and I got to the car WOW full blown migraine. This explains a few other times my migraines have hit. Shocking....of all things thou, the smell?? It's now day 3 and still here. Ugh. Another long one. Anyone else affected by this? I can't be alone.

  1. I am certain you are not alone and it is especially challenging since you can't control the environment! I hope that others with experience of this kind of environmental trigger can offer you some advice. We are here to support you! Warmly, Tracy (Team Member)

    1. Hi
      Thank you for sharing your experience with us. As said, you're not alone in this. Many of us can have a nasty migraine attack triggered by strong odors.
      I've found keeping a handheld diffuser with an essential oil I can tolerate and find pleasant very beneficial. Inside my diffused there is a small piece of cotton that I put the essential oil on. This sort of blocks out the offending odor in hopes to avoid triggering a migraine attack. I'll post a photo here;

      I'm so sorry about the three day migraine attack. I know how frustrating that is. Do you have something you can take for relief? We have resources for when an attack lasts longer than 72 hours I'll share with you here;

      1. This makes sense to me -- it's probably not just the odor you smell, but the smoke itself. If you can smell it, it's impacting you in some way, however small. I bet it's a lot more common than you think! I'm not an expert, though, so that's just a guess. Either way, sorry that's a trigger for you. Marijuana is legal where I live and I smell it everywhere now. In contrast, I hardly ever smell cigarettes anymore. -Melissa, team member
