Walking Triggers my Migraine with Aura

My Migraine usually last between 2 to 3 hours, it takes about a day to fully recover from the attack. Instead of headaches I get painful Head pressure with other symptoms including Double/blurred vision, when tilting my head upwards it increases the pain that makes me 100% of the time vomit. After my main migraine, if I started walking the next day I get a silent migraine that feels much worse like unable to feel my legs and arm with aura for a few to 10 minutes.

Propranolol reduces the frequency of my migraine when I used to start to get this weird heavy feeling around my head every week, but it doesn't prevent my migraine when I walk 15 to 30 mins. Sumatriptan doesn't prevent my migraine.

When I was working my migraine became unbearable, that's why I quit work. I stayed in my bedroom for about 3 to 4 years, never went out. I decided to get help last year, that's when my doctor gave me propranolol that only prevents my migraine when I get this weird feeling around my head at home. It's impossible to work with my Migraine. Life is unfair

  1. Hi Midnight10,

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I'm sorry you are having a difficult time. Migraine disease can be tricky and tough to treat, and you are so right - life is unfair.

Sumatriptan is a medication that stops the migraine process, not prevent an attack. If you find it's not working for you there are other delivery methods, nasal spray and injections for example, as well as other triptans that each work a tiny bit differently to stop the migraine process.

Propranolol is a medication that may help prevent a migraine attack, and sounds like it may be working. However, if you find you are getting four or more migraine attacks a month, it may be time to discuss a different dosage or a new prevention medication. Try not to lose hope, there are over 100 medications that can be used to treat migraine disease.
