It meant validation and peace of mind knowing that I have a neurological disorder. It means being vigilant on what I consume, my hormones, and the weather near me. Having this diagnosis does not define me; it’s just a part of me.

I have had a an official diagnosis of Chronic Migraine for some time given from a very credible Neurologist in my province. It is a validation for sure and it allows my Neurologist to seek funding to help pay for the high costs related to the newer treatments. I also agree that I do NOT let it define me. Along with the wisdom of my Neurologist I choose to think that I am in charge of both this health care need and my feelings related to it. Somedays it clearly feels that the migraine is in charge of me BUT for the most part I feel empowered to be in charge of it. I don't use words like suffer and afflicked as migraine is something you can live with. On my unwell days due to migraine I have great rescue medications. This, along with daily medications and watching my triggers allows me to function with migraine.
