What are your thoughts on Botox?

I'm an 18 year old girl who has suffered from migraines from an early age. I've been to numerous doctors, tried numerous medications and now I've been introduced to Botox and I think it could be my last resort. If anyone has had it done , would you tell me if it's worth it in the long run because as of now I'm at my breaking point and if it is something that could help... I'm all for it! Thank you!

    1. Thank you so very much! Will do! I would love to share my journey as a chronically ill patient and my way to get better!

  2. Hey, I know this was posted a few weeks ago..
Anyways. I'm 27 I've been getting chronic migraines since I was 6 or 7 and about a year ago I tried botox injections. I had 62 injections (31 each time I went in) as part of a study. I believe the injections were about 3 months apart and there should have been a third round of injections. However, I didn't notice any difference after either set of injections. The injections weren't painful but I HATED getting them.. & It got to the point where thinking about having more made me nauseous and I left the study early.
I had heard so many success stories going into the study that I got too hopeful that it would really help and it was devastating when it didn't 🙁

    1. Well first I want to thank you for answering me! It means a lot ! Secondly , I am so very sorry that it didn't help with your migraines. What do you do for them now?
I did have it done about a week or two ago , like you said " it didn't hurt" ... it didn't but the pain after was excruciating. It was just so bad and now I'm worried that they will get worse because they told me that before it gets better they'll get worse . So I'm kinda just waiting for a day I wake up with no pain.

  3. I've been getting Botox for a year and it's a miracle. I've been fighting migraine for 40 years - chronic, severe, almost daily migraines. With Botox I have mild attacks maybe 4 days a month. It does hurt a little, but a few minutes of discomfort compared to constant pain? I'll take the needles.
But now I'm in the middle of a fight with my insurance company. After paying for 4 treatments they've decided they don't want to pay for it because it's "experimental" and there's "no evidence it works." Both lies. It makes me very, very sad to know that there is hope right there, but I have to suffer because of somebody's arbitrary decision. My neurologist has filed a second appeal, so I hope to have some good news soon.
I know Botox doesn't work for everybody, but it's the only thing that's ever given me any relief. Good luck!

    1. I'm the exact same way, I'd take needles over constant pain! It has been over 3 weeks since I've gotten it done and I can say that I see a difference already! I went through a 6 month period where it was just constant and there was nothing to help. I'm very happy I was introduced to Botox because right now, I feel that it will help . I am so sorry that they stopped helping with your treatment. I know what I go through is awful and I know that it's awful for anyone who has a chronic illness. I hope you get that good news! Good luck to you as well!

  4. It is the best thing I have ever done. I recommend it 100%. It has changed my life. I was afraid of the injections at first. It takes 10 mins or less to do. I went from 15+ migraines a month to maybe 1 or 2. I just went 3 weeks without a migraine. 😀
